InfoWatch Gulf awards special prize to Dubai Police cyber challenge winners

InfoWatch Gulf, InfoWatch Group’s Middle Eastern office, has become a partner of Dubai Police’s Capture the Flag (CTF) challenge aimed to raise cyber threat awareness and promote cybersecurity among school and university students. Kristina Tantsyura, CEO of InfoWatch Gulf, presented the company’s special prize to CTF winner Youssef Awad.

The Dubai Police event attracted more than 50 young IT specialists from 12 countries, with the three winners being awarded AED 20,000, AED 10,000, and AED 5,000.

At the award ceremony, Jamal Salem Al Jalaf, Director of Criminal Investigation Department in Dubai Police, emphasized that such events inspire young people to foster their cybersecurity skills, which is highly important in the face of global technology changes.

Traditionally, InfoWatch has been supporting Middle Eastern events aimed to develop cybersecurity knowledge and skills and discover new talents,” said Kristina Tantsyura, CEO of InfoWatch Gulf. “It was our privilege to be invited by Dubai Police to their event and award a special prize to the best young cybersecurity specialist in the Middle East. We can see a growing interest in cybersecurity here and are happy that our technologies, experience and expertise, including our education initiatives, are in demand on this market.

Capture the Flag is held in the form of a game in which players need to get the maximum number of points by detecting and eliminating as many network infrastructure vulnerabilities as possible, thus demonstrating both their book knowledge and hands-on experience.
